Turning a rough rural paddock with a steep slope into a tennis court is all in a day’s work for TigerTurf.

Constructing a solid base was critical

The challenges with this full build private tennis facility were many, none more so than the creation of a solid, full draining platform on which to construct the court. Because of the topography of the site and the property access, a temporary road was built to enable the establishment of machinery and materials.

Tournament is a reliable, quality tennis surface made by TigerTurf and is a good value investment for recreational tennis and schools' multi-sports court. It is a medium pile, sand filled, fibrillated tennis surface. Its hard-wearing, versatile yarn makes it suitable for courts of all types from private homes to tennis clubs and multisport use in schools

TOURNAMENT

TigerTurf's Civil division completes excavation

With the original ground sloping at approximately 60 degrees Tiger Civil needed to complete the excavation carefully. This included:

Accurately calculating the quantity of earth to be Cut-to-Fill to achieve the required finished height of the court surface
Installing a cut off drain prior to stripping the topsoil
Stripping the topsoil and putting aside the quantity needed for reinstatement at the completion of the court build.
Excavating and filling of the low side of the base (using a 10-tonne excavator and 4-tonne vibrating pad foot roller)
Pegging bidum cloth to the exposed bank to stop any drying and collapse during the construction of the retaining wall.
Installing subsoil drains into the compacted base platform to cut off any sub-terrain water and to ensure future draining of the Dynamic base

Finally, applying a TigerBond layer over the tennis surface to “lock” the upper layer, preventing movement.
