New Summer Envy surface creates safe play area

TigerTurf installed a TigerPad beneath the new Summer Envy surface for Fairhaven School’s playground, to create a safe play area with a critical fall height of 2 metres.

The previous playground surface was worn and unstable. Fairhaven had special requirements for their students, who all have disabilities, and love to play and climb.

A special playground for special kids

The Napier school needed a surface that met playground regulations in terms of critical fall heights, drained well, and was easily maintained. The playground surface had to be non-toxic and durable, with a natural, appealing surface.

Bairds Mainfreight Primary School

TigerTurf’s longstanding partnership with Baird’s Mainfreight Primary School reached new heights in 2023 with the transformation of a 300 SQM derelict area into a vibrant, multi-purpose games space. Located in Auckland, the project replaced a fenced-off patch of grass where an old classroom once stood.

Hunterville School

TigerTurf was engaged by Hunterville School to develop an engaging and versatile games area covering 286 m² on an existing asphalt base in Hunterville. Work began in early 2025, with planning focusing on a surface that could accommodate a wide range of play activities suited for imaginative games. By July 2025, the installation of TigerTurf’s “Trophy” product was completed, featuring an olive-green base carpet complemented by colourful game markings. The layout showcased a number snake, alpha blocks, and assorted shapes—all carefully painted in vibrant tones—encouraging creativity and learning as part of everyday play.

Matamata Primary School

Matamata Primary School embarked on an exciting project to transform their central courtyard into a vibrant and engaging space for students. Collaborating with TigerTurf the school aimed to create an obstacle course and play area that would inspire physical activity, creativity, and social interaction. The project aimed to strike a balance between safety and creativity. TigerTurf needed to design a surface that was both durable and visually stimulating.

Kakapo Creek Children’s Garden

TigerTurf Summer Envy is a sunny green lawn at the fabulous Kakapo Creek Children’s Garden. The two outdoor play lawns are safe for adventurous children with a TigerTurf PowerPlay 22mm safety pad laid beneath the two TigerTurf Summer Envy play lawns. TigerTurf Summer Envy is a warm, sun-kissed green showpiece at the Kakapo Creek Children’s Garden; the bright green octagonal play lawn framed by an elegant portico opening to the fresh air and sky above, with a fascinating view of blue sky, cloud and birds. Graceful palms fringe the children’s lawn, echoed by the tussocks tickling the sky above the Children’s Garden, a natural classroom inspiring the children to learn through creative and active play. A soft, dry lawn for story-time, curricular social activities and recreational play, TigerTurf Summer Envy will retain its flawless golden-green perfection for many years of daily activities with a brief, simple care routine. TigerTurf Summer Envy is the perfect lawn for the adventure playground, with our TigerTurf PowerPlay 22m safety mat providing safe landing up to a height of 1.4m from tumbles and falls, as well as for rolling on and for casual junior gymnastics.

Jan’s Pre-school

Inviting, fresh and clean, the revitalised playground at Jan’s Pre-school in Blenheim vibrates with energy and fun. TigerTurf Serenity 30 – cool and comfortable when the heat is on – TigerCool. Jan’s Pre-school has renovated indoor areas, with an overhaul of the playground as the next priority. Together we designed a safe, attractive playground for the children and staff, which would be a showpiece at the front of the pre-school. The playground currently fell short of the high standards set by the staff and management, who wanted to attract the young students outdoors and inspire creative play every day. The unattractive bark surface of the outdoor play area was messy, difficult to clean and hard on small knees – pieces of bark went into mouths and over the fence. The sandpit was a popular learning area for the students, but the inevitable sand spill took too long to clean up. A modern, easily maintained surface was needed to improve everyone’s day. TigerTurf has excellent all-weather playground surfaces to suit the requirements for pre-school playgrounds. Now, it was time to bring the playground up to date with a safe, all-weather TigerTurf Serenity 40 surface to make learning fun for everyone.

Stanley Bay School

“TigerTurf has transformed the front entrance of Stanley Bay School” a staff member told us happily. The brilliant colours of the TigerTurf Trophy playground and the smooth green perfection of the TigerTurf Summer Envy lawn create a beautiful, professional image with a promise of fun – we do love our school projects. Coming to school is more fun than ever for students, warmly welcomed by the bright TigerTurf playground at the front of Stanley Bay School. Arrivals at the front entrance are delighted by the rich green TigerTurf Trophy lawn inset with brilliant, multi-coloured games for the surrounding junior classes. Who wouldn’t love a long, curvy snake to hop along, a colourful patchwork hopscotch to bounce along, and a fabulous giant clock in red, gold and circles around the central blue bull’s eye – a colourful, cheerful, playground within a perfect, lush lawn every day of the year.

Pukekohe High School Childcare Centre

The Pukekohe Childcare centre has a bright, fresh TigerTurf Vista 35 XWR playground, with the extra protection of the PowerPlay shock pad providing the essential safe Critical Fall Height throughout the playground, allowing the children to take their climbing and swinging games to new heights.

Sylvia Park School

Sylvia Park School asked TigerTurf for an engaging, bright, fresh playground to replace unsightly, cracked concrete that had to go. The classrooms now open onto a vibrant TigerTurf Trophy all-weather playground packed with fun, adventure and inspiration. TigerTurf playgrounds are designed with a dash of razzle dazzle to enchant students and staff. Then, we spin our looms to create brilliant, multi-functional sports areas and playgrounds. Sylvia Park School wanted an imaginative, colourful TigerTurf playground at the heart of the classroom block, and games, please, loads of games to burn energy, build skills and, above all, to generate spontaneous fun and excitement every day. TigerTurf added skilfully crafted, finely detailed designs to stimulate imaginative play or just to enjoy. The games and designs are inset within the playground surface in cheerful colours to delight and inspire, with the school logo to mark this as the students’ own place. The construction team first repaired the existing surface as the base for the TigerTurf Trophy surface. We formed a plan with the school to work safely around the difficult access to the playground area. The playground site was precisely measured, because the cutting and installation process was tightly detailed. Buildings, gardens, and benches form irregular shapes around walls and corners, which gives each playground its own personality. The challenge is to form all this into a cohesive, functional design.
