The American Embassy School (AES) in New Delhi is a highly regarded International School participating in comprehensive inter-school sports competition with schools in India and the Middle East. The school wanted to provide students with a sporting facility predominantly for football but also used for softball, general athletics, PE classes as well as an area for cultural events.

The solution was the first artificial football pitch in New Delhi, a project scope which included full excavation, drainage, base construction, fencing and the installation of the FIFA approved surface. A key consideration for the school was how to mitigate the effects of both the high temperatures (the temperature in New Delhi can reach close to 50oC) and the high intensity rainfall experienced during monsoon season.
After a lengthy consultation process with the AES, TigerTurf was given the go-ahead in February 2012 to build and install its Endurance 50 all-weather surface, a highly durable synthetic system with the lowest possible heat reflection. The construction of the base provided its own unique challenges which were overcome by establishing a strong, consultative relationship between the client, TigerTurf India (Altius Sport) and TigerTurf New Zealand who provide technical expertise and quality control over the entire project.
The surfacing system utilises TenCate XP Pro yarn which is the only yarn in the world sold with an unlimited play durability warranty from the yarn manufacturer. A unique benefit of the Endurance product is it’s suitability for play with all types of footwear.
The American Embassy School now has an all-weather surface with consistent playing conditions and the fantastic 3.7m x 3.7m logo in the centre of the pitch proudly showcases the AES Tigers.
