Hamilton Boys’ High is one of the strongest hockey schools in the New Zealand Secondary Schools
competition, having previously won Rankin Cups and produced several New Zealand representatives. Therefore,
we were not surprised that the school wanted to invest in the best hockey facility possible.
Hamilton Boy’s High commissioned TigerTurf to construct a fantastic new WETT Pro hockey facility, with fences, paths, and lights.
This is the fourth WETT hockey pitch to be built in Hamilton to service the enthusiastic Waikato hockey community.
WETT Pro is acknowledged by hockey players around the world to be the top hockey surface, and it certainly lives up to its reputation, providing all the playing qualities hockey players have wished for.
Ecocept for high-performance sports pitches
To add durability and further performance benefits, Hamilton Boys’ High asked us to install TigerTurf EcoCept beneath the WETT Pro surface. TigerTurf Ecocept is a revolutionary sub-base system that incorporates both effective shock pad performance and sports turf drainage along with many other environmental benefits.
Fully recyclable, Ecocept comprises 90% of recycled materials, along with substantial reductions in water use. Eight million plastic bags and 5,000 car tyres go into making up a 6,000sqm hockey field; that’s 40,000kg of plastic waste in total.
TigerTurf Lumosa LED lighting at Hamilton Boys
The icing on the cake is that the hockey players can now play safely at night with the highly efficient Lumosa LEDS sports lighting system. Lumosa LED’s provide daylight conditions on
the darkest night, along with all the sustainable benefits sought by Hamilton Boys High
a) Lower running costs than conventional lights
b) More effective, focused lights that last longer and require no warming up period.
c) The fully automatic lighting system can be set to the playing timetable or controlled by a mobile phone app at a distance.
