Manurewa West Primary’s Outdoor Makeover with TigerTurf

To kick off the project, TigerTurf initiated a collaborative meeting with the school to formalize a design plan for the new canopy courts. Both the Principal and the Head of PE were present, ensuring the students’ interests were well-represented throughout the process. Together, they focused on creating a space that would not only meet the school’s sporting needs but also offer new and engaging play opportunities. Special consideration was given to the placement of line markings, ensuring they did not overlap with those from previous projects, thus providing a unique experience and fresh entertainment for the pupils. This thoughtful approach aimed to maximize the utility of the courts while introducing new ways for students to enjoy and explore their outdoor environment.

Alongside the development of the new canopy courts, the adjacent playground was also undergoing a much-needed transformation. The old wet pour base had seen better days and required revitalization to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for the students. With the installation of new playground equipment and structures, TigerTurf stepped in to ensure that the space met all health and safety regulations.

New Courts feature Dynamic Colors and Traditional Games

The existing base was carefully excavated and replaced with a new basecourse, providing a stable foundation. A 45mm PowerPlay pad was then installed to guarantee compliance with fall height regulations, ensuring student safety. Topping it all off was TigerTurf’s Summer Envy 35 XWR, a reliable and popular choice for school playgrounds across the country, providing a lush, durable, and safe surface for endless play.

Following the successful installation of the playground, TigerTurf shifted focus to the courts, bringing to life a vibrant and engaging space for the students. The new courts feature a dynamic color scheme and a well-thought-out design, including markings for traditional games like Ki o Rahi and Tapu Ae, as well as the ever-popular “Rainbow Road” for added excitement. The combination of the Advantage surface and a 10mm Rubber pad provides a durable and resilient foundation, perfectly suited to the active needs of older students. This robust system ensures that the courts not only look fantastic but will also stand the test of time, supporting a variety of activities and games for years to come.
