Transforming Outdoor Spaces: TigerTurf at Tararua College

The first project saw the installation of Dark Green Trophy turf, complete with a custom SignGrass school logo, transforming the area into a vibrant, multi-purpose hub. Impressed by the exceptional results, the college partnered with TigerTurf for two additional projects, further enhancing the campus with high-performance surfaces tailored to support the diverse needs of their students.

For all three areas at Tararua College, TigerTurf constructed strong and durable aggregate bases, ensuring a solid foundation for the turf installations. To enhance the stability and longevity of these bases, TigerBond was applied—a specialized base stabilization product that bonds and secures the top layer of aggregate. TigerBond penetrates deeply into the upper granular layer, creating a firm, free-draining surface that retains its shape and integrity over time. This innovative process minimizes the risk of base shifting or compaction, which can lead to uneven playing surfaces or drainage issues. By using TigerBond, TigerTurf not only ensures optimal performance and resilience for high-traffic sports and recreational activities but also extends the lifespan of the surface, making it a cost-effective and reliable solution for the school’s growing needs.

High Performance Spaces that Blend Functionality with Aesthetics

TigerTurf utilized two premium products to meet the diverse needs of Tararua College. Trophy, a durable, sand-dressed turf with a 15mm pile height, was selected for its exceptional versatility and performance. Accredited by both FIH National and ITF, Trophy is ideal for multi-sport use, offering firm traction, consistent ball response, and all-weather durability. It was installed in two areas, including a vibrant Olive Green and Light Blue court with volleyball markings and a fixed inground net system. For the second area, Vista 35 XWR was chosen, a lush, natural-looking turf designed for heavy traffic and minimal maintenance. Made from high-quality XWR fibre, it offers a soft, realistic appearance while being UV-stabilized and free of heavy metals, ensuring a safe and attractive surface for students. Together, these products provide Tararua College with durable, high-performance spaces that blend functionality with aesthetics.
