A dashing new TigerTurf Advantage multi-sports turf surface with the potential to be used for any of five different sports by the Somerville Intermediate school community – thank you, Somerville, for inviting us to revisit to replace your beloved 10-year-old TigerTurf sports court with our favourite multi-functional, multi-fun Advantage surface.

Sommerville Intermediate taking advantage of TigerTurf's Advantage multi-sports turf

TigerTurf was delighted to be invited to replace the sports turf we installed for Somerville Intermediate ten years ago with a modern TigerTurf Advantage multi-sports turf. Each of the five courts in the new surface was clearly marked for hockey, tennis, netball, and futsal, with a two-lane running track around the perimeter. The original sports surface included five tennis courts, but the versatile new multi-sport TigerTurf Advantage courts were beautifully integrated with the potential to introduce more students to more sports.

Improving the existing base ready for the TigerTurf Advantage turf

As the school term was underway during this project, we worked with the school to develop a safe working plan that allowed efficient workflow to continue. We managed the site for safety throughout the project, timing the movement of heavy vehicles to take place during class time, as much as possible.

TigerTurf Advantage

TigerTurf Advantage is an outstanding tennis and multi-sport surface that encourages players at the top of their game to extend themselves even further, while developing players can more readily improve their skills on this technical tennis turf. TigerTurf Advantage is also an excellent surface within the Gym environment. Its hard wearing characteristics make it ideal for resistance training, high impact and indoor field sports.

Brilliant new TigerTurf multi-sports centre for Somerville Intermediate

After lifting the large existing sports turf, the TigerTurf construction team improved the drainage and regraded the top of the existing dynamic base, then compacted and sealed it with TigerBond to maintain the stability and strength of the base structure.

Then came the most exciting moment for our clients in every turf installation – we laid the dazzling new sports turf over the renovated base, ready for action.

Five sapphire-blue multi-sports courts vibrant within a fresh green border are set into an olive-green background and completed with an attractive (and popular) two-lane running track in warm terracotta – a festive design to celebrate a winning project that TigerTurf was proud to be part of.

The explosion of colour presented by the TigerTurf Advantage sports centre was matched by the spontaneous eruption of energy as the students welcomed their fabulous new courts to school life.
