Arrowtown School

TigerTurf’s collaboration with Arrowtown School is the culmination of a journey that began nearly a decade earlier. Initial conversations around upgrading the school’s outdoor sporting facilities started in 2016, with a shared ambition to create a high quality, future ready football field that would serve students for years to come. Over the following ten years, TigerTurf worked alongside the school as aspirations were refined, funding avenues explored, and technical constraints carefully addressed. Progress required patience, persistence, and trust on both sides, but the long term vision remained clear—deliver a surface that would genuinely transform how sport is played and experienced at the school.

Sustainable Sport in Action: NRG2 Non-Infill Turf at Arrowtown School

Sustainable Sport in Action: NRG2 Non-Infill Turf at Arrowtown School

Construction commenced in early 2025, transforming what was previously a greenfield site into a purpose built football facility. Working in partnership with Alpine Civil, TigerTurf managed the excavation and preparation of the 2,758 sqm site, including retaining walls, subsoil drainage, and an engineered aggregate base. A concrete nib topped with mesh fencing was installed around the perimeter for safety and edge stability, while lighting conduit was included to future proof the field for potential night use. Each element reflected years of planning and careful decision making, ensuring the foundation would support consistent performance and long term durability.

Prior to turf installation, a 24 mm Ecocept shock pad was laid across the field. This crucial layer enhances vertical and lateral drainage, allowing the surface to recover quickly after rainfall while maintaining an even, stable profile. Ecocept also improves joint stability for players by providing controlled impact absorption, reducing stress on joints and lowering fatigue—an important consideration for junior sport. The pad contributes to a safer playing environment while helping the field retain its performance characteristics over time.

By December 2025, TigerTurf completed the installation of NRG2, their latest no infill artificial turf. The surface features a refined colour palette, with an olive green playing area framed by a blended olive and blue perimeter that improves visibility and clearly defines boundaries. Line markings include a modified football field alongside two futsal layouts, giving Arrowtown School the flexibility to support multiple sporting codes. Mobile football and futsal goals further enhance adaptability, allowing the space to be reconfigured quickly to suit different programmes.
After ten years of collaboration and determination, the finished field represents a deeply rewarding outcome. Arrowtown School is absolutely ecstatic to see the project come to life, with students now enjoying year round access to a modern, resilient sporting surface. The facility has quickly become a focal point for daily activity and school pride, reinforcing the value of long term planning and partnership. For TigerTurf, the Arrowtown School project stands as a testament to what can be achieved when commitment, innovation, and shared vision are sustained over time.

NRG2

TigerTurf NRG2 is designed to mimic the performance of premium natural turf without the need for performance infill. This innovative solution reduces maintenance, eliminates the risk of infill contamination in waterways, and offers a more sustainable, eco-friendly alternative for high-performance surfaces.
