Case Studies
The covered cricket nets at Sacred Heart College provide the cricket teams with a safe, dry surface for training on all year, honing the skills they need to excel in one of our favourite national sports.
TigerTurf
Cricket
Premier artificial turf has been developed for younger cricketers, schools and clubs. With realistic turn and bounce, it allows players to develop their cricketing skills on a true surface – at an affordable price. Premier is fire rated and suitable for indoor applications.
Although Sacred Heart College has several excellent cricket nets, the Auckland weather all too often puts them out of play, frustrating attempts to maintain a regular cricket training schedule. And senior school teams need to work hard throughout the year to compete for honours during the cricket season.
Wet weather makes the cricket surface unsafe for bowling, the risk of injury too high to allow practice to take place. Indoor nets are the best solution, so Sacred Heart asked TigerTurf to install our Premier cricket surface in the new, all-weather cricket training facility being planned to replace one of the existing nets.
The three-lane training wicket has been extended to allow fast bowlers enough room for a longer run up. We also installed a shock pad beneath the cricket turf surface to establish extra support for the dedicated young bowlers, who will be pounding up the wicket repeatedly during long practice sessions.
The yarn used for the TigerTurf Premier cricket turf is manufactured with a fire retardant additive to comply with the New Zealand fire regulations for indoor facilities.
Fully enclosed by a roof, built by Shade Systems NZ, with internal flexible nets, lights and the high performance TigerTurf Premier cricket surface, the impressive Sacred Heart indoor cricket centre is the best in its class, providing superb training facilities for the school cricket teams.
