TigerTurf Advantage is the sports surface most requested by secondary schools for its superb performance, longevity, and well-earned reputation. Certified as an international sports surface by several world sports bodies, it also bears a ten-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Best of all, Cromwell College now has two all-weather Advantage sports courts with fantastic ball bounce, consistent roll, safe traction underfoot in cold winters and a forgiving playing surface for sports teams.
Cromwell College now has one of the most advanced sports surfaces in the world to offer the local community and schools.
The plans, developed over twelve to eighteen months, became reality with the help of the Government-led School Investment Package.
Burgeoning rolls in New Zealand schools have put pressure on school facilities, especially for sports, as more sports codes are introduced to the school curriculum. Hockey and futsal are generally included within modern school sports facilities, adding weight to Cromwell College’s decision to bring its courts up to date.
A substantial investment in the school sports facilities, the construction of the new sports courts included cutting out and replacing large sections of the existing asphalt damaged by invasive tree roots. The uneven, broken surface had become a health and safety issue necessitating the removal of the trees, roots and all.
The asphalt surface became slippery in cold, frosty Otago winters, was hard on cold joints, unforgiving on knees and elbows when students slipped or tripped.
The new courts need only low maintenance to retain their vivid, handsome finish and high standard of play. The TigerTurf Advantage has been designed for continual use over several years with little maintenance, giving many more players the opportunity to enjoy competitive and recreational sports fun.
