The school needed to be able to use the entire
lower level playing field all year round, and had
a clear vision of how they’d like to use it.
Together we designed an amazing sports
facility and recreational area; one site to
be used for many sports and activities, in
all weathers. And requiring only minimal
maintenance.
Planning and Design Essential
Preparation and planning, initial design and choice of products is possibly the most important aspect of any turf installation.
Good planning and preparation influences the lifespan of the surface and its level of performance during all weather conditions. A well-built sub-structure will function effectively over the life-time of several high-use surfaces.
Usage dictates Surface Choice
The multi-sport area has TigerTurf Trophy and is designed for hockey and football, with netball courts, a full-size tennis court and minitennis courts. Cricket training nets are kept busy, and so is the long jump pit. Around the perimeter is a running track with lanes clearly marked in white for athletic training.
The playground has TigerTurf’s Summer Envy XWR landscape lawn. A TigerPad installed underneath the surface provides safety and comfort, while meeting critical fall height regulations.
Creative use of available spaces
Tiered seating was built into the bank that splits the upper and lower fields. Well-placed for outdoor assemblies, it is also the perfect spot for supporters to watch school sports from. Again, a previously unused part of the field has been converted into an attractive, useful resource for the school and its community.
New fencing to enclose the sports facility completed the project, and the school’s vision was reality. The students have relished being able to play on their new sports field immediately after some spectacularly bad weather: “The best aspect of the new TigerTurf surface is that, even after a week of rain, we can still go out and play.”
