Revitalising Kairanga School Courts: A Blend of Colour and Innovation

Years after a successful landscape installation, Kairanga School once again turned to TigerTurf to refurbish their well-worn courts. Heavily used by both students and the wider community, the courts had become tired and faded, requiring much-needed attention. The refurbishment aimed to breathe new life into this vital space, transforming it into a vibrant hub for sports and activities, ensuring lasting value for its many users.

Elevating School Sports with TigerTurf’s Trophy and Bold Court Makeovers

TigerTurf recommended their Trophy product, a versatile and durable solution ideal for schools. Trophy features a 15mm pile height that enhances both performance and appearance, making it perfect for high-traffic areas like school courts. The product’s firm traction ensures safety for young athletes, while its responsiveness to ball spin encourages skill development in sports like tennis and hockey. Additionally, Trophy’s all-weather design means the surface remains playable throughout the year, providing students with a reliable space for sports and activities regardless of the weather. Its non-reflective surface, even when wet, ensures a comfortable and safe environment for children during school hours and community use.

The design of Kairanga School’s courts features a bold and dynamic color scheme, with a blue and olive surface that creates an eye-catching and vibrant atmosphere. The addition of bright red and yellow line markings for netball, tennis, hockey, and futsal ensures clear visibility, making the space both functional and visually engaging. This thoughtful combination of colors not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also contributes to an inviting environment for students and the community.

A key challenge in the project was the condition of the court’s edges, where the base was in poor shape and required a creative solution. TigerTurf addressed this by installing their Summer Envy 35 XWR turf around the perimeter. This longer pile landscape product was chosen not only to conceal the imperfections in the base but also to create a visually appealing contrast with the shorter pile playing surface. The lush texture of the Summer Envy 35 XWR adds an extra layer of aesthetic enhancement while also improving the overall functionality of the space. The smart use of this turf product contributed to the success of the refurbishment, ensuring a professional finish and a court that both looks and performs exceptionally well.
