TigerTurf Trophy is a fabulous, technical multi-sport turf for schools

The TigerTurf Trophy multi-purpose sports turf brought colour and energy to a once-forgotten corner of Kaiwaka School’s playground. The drab, worn asphalt area became an attractive, all-weather multi-sport court that students would enjoy every day.

Kaiwaka School Principal, Sharlene Tornquist, asked TigerTurf to turn an out-dated, grey, wasted area of the school grounds into an easily maintained, tidy area. A clean, fresh TigerTurf multi-purpose turf would turn this into a modern, high quality, all-weather sports court. She hoped the students would use their bright cheerful playground every day for fun, games and school activities. With only a simple regular routine needed to clear debris and rubbish, the incredibly durable, very beautiful, TigerTurf Trophy sports turf was definitely an excellent choice.

The court at Kaiwaka School had good bones but needed a little more than a tidy up to be functional, appealing and appropriate for the current school curriculum. We patched the rough asphalt base to make it a smooth, level base for the sports turf. We added a new concrete mowing strip around the edges of the base as a border between the natural grass and the new turf – much to the relief of the caretaker mowing the lawns. Finally, TigerTurf rebuilt the end of the court, installing a small retaining wall to hold everything firm, and replaced the tired fence along the top of the now sturdy wall with a new 2.4m high galvanised fence to keep all the balls on the court.

Then came that magical moment for the school community and TigerTurf as we laid the brilliant green perfection of TigerTurf Trophy, turning drab grey into an action-packed, cleverly designed new playground. We added two new Airtime Height Adjustable basketball hoops to create extra fun for the students.
