Case Studies
Kendall Park, Kaiapoi, is the home of Waimakariri United Football Club, and in high demand by its 1200 keen members. Before the earthquake, the playing fields were constantly in use by football and cricket teams; however, as a result of the ground liquefaction, the surrounding area and the playing fields no longer drained. This resulted in frequent and annoying cancellations.

The drainage was well tested during construction. Constant rain inundated the area as we worked, but also gave us the opportunity to gauge the success of the drainage system as it was built – and it certainly worked!
The flooded sports fields were just a glimpse of the problems that constantly challenge Christchurch sports clubs. We felt tremendous respect for their spirited resilience and strong determination to keep the ball rolling.

The Kendall Park sports facility has new lighting, concrete paths, fencing, a viewing bund, shelters for the players and a high performance, durable synthetic playing surface for a variety of sports.
The club and district council are very happy with their new facility. They appreciated that TigerTurf listened to what they needed, and discussed possible solutions with them. We then designed a surface that met all the requirements, within budget, despite the appalling weather! Kendall Park now provides the community with a top class training and match game surface for many years.
