Basketball is enormously popular at Port Ahuriri School in Napier, leading to the school’s request for an all weather basketball court to meet the needs of all the school teams throughout the year.

TigerTurf Multi-Use Courts Ready For Every Day Use

With no assembly hall, the school required a dry, shaded area in which to bring the entire school together, as well as a basketball court. The answer was to construct a roof from Shade Systems New Zealand over the new TigerTurf Trophy multi-purpose court to create one large area for school activities all year round. Class work, performances, assemblies, PE and games which can now take place without weather restrictions.

With only a little remedial work, the existing asphalt court was used as the base for the high quality TigerTurf Trophy sport surface, a positive start for this successful project and a happy school community at Port Ahuriri.

TigerTurf Trophy

TigerTurf Trophy is a dressed surface designed for
multi-sport use in schools and clubs. It is excellent for
hockey* and tennis and meets the exacting standards
of an FIH National category sand dressed field as well
as being ITF fast paced certified.
It also provides consistent performance for sports
such as basketball, netball and in playgrounds, as well
as a brilliant multi-purpose surface suitable for general
Gym use.

The vibrant new Trophy court is clearly marked for basketball, with a couple of netball Ds, and includes basketball towers supplied by Airtime Hoops, with sprung hoops that can be adjusted for height.

With its roof, lights, speakers and our magnificent Trophy Turf, this impressive TigerTurf basketball court certainly rivals the look and performance of the fantastic NBA competition courts.

Low maintenance, durable, clean and brilliantly coloured TigerTurf Trophy is a winner

The school is pleased with how little maintenance the new basketball court requires. Despite its glamorous appearance, TigerTurf Trophy is one of our most durable high performance sports turfs. We install sports surfaces for specialised sports and for multi-purpose use, all of them durable and requiring only minimal maintenance to keep them at peak performance.
