The TigerTurf Advantage all-weather, durable volleyball/basketball warm up area at Pukekohe High School turned a wasted area of playing field into a student hot spot. This popular Advantage practice area has brought hours of fun, fitness and focus to the students’ school day.
Pukekohe School wanted a new area that would encourage students to be active outdoors. The school’s objective was to reform a wasted area of the playing fields that was often unusable, being slippery and unsafe in winter months, then dry, hard and dusty in summer.
The addition of a new TigerTurf practice surface transformed the site immediately with the installation of a flawless green turf contrasted with a brilliant blue turf, including four practice basketball keys and a full-size volleyball court. To top off the design, TigerTurf Advantage was selected as an excellent surface for vigorous exercise, with good traction in all weather, always ready for action.
This is one of our best multi-sport surfaces and our most popular tennis surface for clubs, schools and private courts, accredited as a medium/fast tennis surface by the ITF (International Tennis Federation).

This was a complete turn-key installation by TigerTurf. The experienced, skilled TigerTurf team began with the construction of a new dynamic base to support the Advantage turf.
The base was laser-levelled to maintain an even, consistent surface for all sports. The dynamic base includes subsoil drains that keep the court as dry as possible by draining the surface swiftly and effectively, especially after a downpour.
TigerBond was applied to the well-prepared base by the TigerTurf construction team. This base stabilization product is sprayed onto the completed base layer, penetrating approximately 30mm into the upper base material to achieve a firm finish with improved drainage. TigerBond can be used instead of a 30mm asphalt layer, with extra benefits for sustained sports performance.
TigerTurf included a 2.4m-high full perimeter fence to keep the action on the court, with quality AirTime Hoops that bring a dash of professional flair to practice sessions. A concrete mowing strip protects the Advantage surface from damage and makes the groundsman’s work easier.
As an all-weather warm-up court for volleyball and basketball, this could be said to exceed the school’s goal – the happy, noisy players are certainly warm as they burn up loads of energy extending their ball and social skills.
