TigerTurf was pleased to return to Tikipunga School in Whangārei in 2021, following the success of an earlier project that had strengthened the relationship between the school and the installation team. The new brief focused on upgrading a concrete base area into a vibrant 656m² multicourt and games zone designed to support a range of activities for students of all ages.

The design of the new space at Tikipunga School incorporated an olive‑green outer zone paired with a light‑blue inner section, creating visual contrast while clearly defining activity areas. The project included line markings for a full netball court, a running track, and an assortment of playground games aimed particularly at younger students. One of the advantages of the Trophy surface is the clarity and durability of its line markings, which remain visible and intact over time due to the turf’s stable, high‑quality yarn and consistent playing surface. This allowed TigerTurf to integrate multiple sports and games without overcrowding the space, encouraging students to explore different activities while maintaining order and flow across the court.
In addition to supporting formal sport, the space was designed to provide more opportunities for free play and physical development. The assorted games installed for younger children added colour, energy, and a sense of fun to the area. TigerTurf’s experience working with schools meant the team understood the importance of creating an environment that encourages active learning, social interaction, and confidence in movement. The Trophy surface contributes to this by offering safe, consistent traction and a comfortable feel underfoot, making it suitable for both structured lessons and informal playtime.
The completed project delivered a refreshed outdoor facility that now serves many areas of school life, from sports training to everyday recreation. By pairing a strong technical surface with thoughtful design, TigerTurf helped Tikipunga School create a space that supports student wellbeing and participation across age groups. The school’s decision to invite TigerTurf back for a second project reflected their confidence in the team’s workmanship and in the long‑term value of the surfaces provided. The new multicourt and games area continues to offer a vibrant, reliable setting for play and physical development, contributing positively to daily life at Tikipunga School.
