Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club has taken its training and playing facilities to the next level with the installation of a new 9,540m² TigerTurf Premier Pro Elite 3G rugby surface.
Completed in October 2025, the new pitch provides Cambridge University RFC with a world-class, all-weather playing surface engineered to support the demands of high-performance rugby, from university talent through to the professional game.
Meeting World Rugby Regulation 22 requirements, Premier Pro Elite has been developed to deliver consistent, reliable performance throughout the season. The advanced 3G system combines monofilament and fibrillated Tapeslide yarns to provide realistic ball response, secure footing and high resilience, even under intensive use.
Developed through the TenCate Centre for Turf Innovation, Premier Pro Elite represents TigerTurf’s latest approach to elite synthetic sports surfaces. Designed with reduced infill use in mind, the system can support organic infill options, providing clubs and schools with a certified, durable surface while helping to reduce the volume of infill required.
For Cambridge University RFC, the new surface offers greater consistency for both training and competition, with its all-weather characteristics helping the club maintain access to high-quality playing conditions throughout the year. Its durability is particularly suited to environments where a pitch needs to accommodate frequent and demanding use across multiple teams and age groups.
With FIFA and World Rugby certification, an 8-year warranty and pile-height options ranging from 40mm to 60mm, Premier Pro Elite is designed to provide the performance and longevity expected from an elite sports surface.
