With its longstanding history of providing the young people of Bolton with a safe and fun place to spend their free time, Bolton Lads and Girls Club (BLGC) has always facilitated a variety of recreational and performing arts opportunities, alongside a diverse range of sporting activities.
Yet, with football teams ranging from Under 7’s to Veterans to accommodate, the club’s existing, natural grass pitch was in no way up to the task, and enough was enough for the club’s Commercial Manager, Andrew Tower.
After securing a grant from the Football Foundation’s Artificial Pitch Framework, they chose the TigerTurf’s Soccer Real 50XQ, a 3G turf designed specifically to meet the needs of players across a range of levels and abilities – the perfect choice to accommodate players of all skill and age.

Almost a decade later, we caught up with Andrew to see how our artificial turf helped the club, and discovered that since the installation took place, the club’s turf is still in pristine condition, and not only was it able to accommodate matches more regularly, but all other types of play increased dramatically.

Not only do the club now have several external contractors who use the facilities, this artificial grass pitch has offered the surrounding area’s younger and older people the chance to play at all levels, all year round, helping to get children off the streets and playing sports. Bolton Lads and Girls Club has also grown from 15 teams to 32, plus their own Junior kicks sessions which sees them working with many more children.
