Greg originates from South Africa but after living in Dubai for the past five years, he recently made the move to the UK. Greg has hit the ground running as TigerTurf’s new Finance Director and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from working across many different industries.
We caught up with Greg to learn more…
Can you tell us a bit about your work history and what lead you to TigerTurf UK?
I studied to become a Chartered Accountant in South Africa and my first job was Financial Manager of UTi Sun Couriers (now called DSV) which then developed into the Financial Director role. Since then, I have worked for Volvo Cars South Africa (CFO) and Singisi Forest Products / Hans Merensky (Group Financial Controller).
I was then employed as the Financial Controller of TenCate Thiolon Middle East, and I made the move to Dubai in May 2017 and joined the TenCate Group.
The opportunity to join TigerTurf UK and expand my experience within the TenCate Group is very exciting for me.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I usually wake up at about 5am for a run, running in the snow and rain has been a very interesting experience for me considering the past 5 years have been spent in the Dubai heat.
I am currently staying in Worcester, so I get to enjoy the drive through the countryside to work.
A typical day for me currently is very new and different to what I am used to in the past, as I learn and gain an understanding of the operations of TigerTurf UK.
What are you most looking forward to about working at TigerTurf UK?
I am really looking forward to working with the people of TigerTurf UK and learning more about the tufting world and the UK market.
I am also really looking forward to being part of the team at TigerTurf UK who will show profits at the end of the year as we reach our targeted production volumes.
Anything else you want to add?
I really enjoy cycling, especially mountain biking. I took part in the Swiss Epic race in 2022, my preparation to get used to the rain in the UK (photo below!).
I am a huge motorcycle fan. I am already planning my trip to the Ilse of Mann to watch the racing.
My wife (Kate) and my son (Luca) arrive in the UK on Friday 31st March, I am very excited!
