The new TigerTurf BowlsWeave green was a major undertaking for the Mordialloc Bowls Club, so they naturally did comprehensive background checks for similar projects we had carried out for other clubs.
Mordialloc Bowls Club’s choice of contractors for their new green was strongly influenced by TigerTurf’s professional attitude in offering references from similar projects, which the club followed up, with positive results. The members also appreciated the detail with which we explained our various bowling green surfaces, and our comprehensive attention to the site’s requirements, recommending a Geotech report be carried out and outlining possible strategies, depending upon the survey results
The Mordialloc Bowling Club is 20 km south of Melbourne on Port Phillip Bay, subject to the inevitable extremes of Victorian weather, which affected play adversely on the existing grass green.
The new TigerTurf BowlsWeave surface is playable throughout the year, and offers playing conditions to international tournament standard. The construction required excavation,
a new free-draining base, bonded with TigerBond, allowing good drainage as well as durable stability. A new underlay and BowlsWeave surface were then laid, with new plinths and edging in place.
Every project has its interesting aspects, and the Mordialloc project was a rewarding installation. We enjoyed a close rapport with the members, who followed our progress daily, and were interested to learn all they could about the installation process.
We certainly appreciate the club’s recognition of our high standard of service, and the great results achieved by our hard working teams, despite some unfavourable weather.
