The fresh, bright blue, green and brick colours of the new TigerTurf Tournament multi-courts have fired up the students’ love of outdoor activities. The sparkling playground is now the heart of fun and action at Donvale Primary School, just as the school leadership team had hoped when the dull, ageing asphalt courts were replaced with a colourful TigerTurf surface.
The students can enjoy impromptu lunchtime games, after-school practice sessions and structured learning, making it easy for PE staff. The staff members are also pleased to have a welcoming multi-use playground that is available every day for school assemblies and exercise sessions for large groups of pupils, classroom PE, group teaching and outdoor games.
The two courts are permanently marked up to include:
• four combined bat tennis and foursquare games
• two combined basketball and netball courts
• rounders
• a two-lane running track alongside – always a popular feature of TigerTurf projects.
Clear markings and clever use of colours make it easy for students to follow the markings for each sport. The reduction of grazes, bleeding knees and hands has been welcomed. The TigerTurf Tournament synthetic surface is safe, clean and gives good traction even in wet weather.
For our part, the TigerTurf team loves these school projects and shares the excitement felt by the students as they follow the construction and installation processes. The delight on their faces when they run onto the new courts for the first time is always our favourite day too.
