The new landscaping turf was installed as part of an $Aus50m renovation of the arena, which has a capacity of 10,000. The upgrade plans were announced by the New South Wales Government in January 2019 in an effort to boost its hopes of hosting the ATP Cup in January 2020 and included a new roof, upgraded seating and video boards.
TigerTurf’s agent, All Grass Sports, was approached to tender for the installation of the synthetic turf. All Grass Sports owner, Mark Edmondson, the 1976 Australian Open Champion and passionate tennis player, recommended TigerTurf’s Summer Envy 44 landscape turf was the best option for the application.
