This typical “muddy in winter and dry dust bowl in summer“ school sports ground was making it difficult for students to enjoy and excel in their sport endeavors.
TigerTurf, in consultation with WM Loud, presented a number of design options for the 12,700m2 project for the school’s consideration. The basis of the brief was for multi-purpose functionality and durability. TigerTurf’s XP Pro yarn, which is used in the manufacture of its “Endurance” product, is the only yarn on the market which comes with a 5 year durability warranty. This feature was a big winner with the client who felt comfortable that the surface was best suited to the immense traffic it would take.
The build and installation had its share of difficulties – mostly weather related. We experienced rain almost every week for 10 weeks but through careful project management and some long hours by the TigerTurf installers, we delivered a supreme football turf installation on time and budget.
Kolbe Catholic College now have a large multi-dimensional, low maintenance elite facility which has become the hub of their competitive and recreational sports. The facility is a welcomed improvement to the school grounds, offering elite sport and recreational diversity to the students.
