Gnowangerup is in a remote area over 350km south east of Perth in Western Australia. The project required the full construction and installation of a combined Tennis and Hockey facility.
TigerTurf were selected from the tender process due to its ability to merge the hockey and tennis surfaces without comprising performance for either sport along with “...their ability to allow community and Council works in kind to reduce costs and their excellent project management and history.” says Neah Browning, Community Development Officer for the Shire of Gnowangerup.
The project commenced in January 2013. Due to its remote location, construction materials, contractors and equipment were difficult to source and expensive. By maintaining close contact with the Shire, TigerTurf were able to provide significant savings:
a) by utilising the Shire’s own road maintenance staff and construction material supplies at a significant cost savings.
b) by recommending an alternative laser graded crushed rock base system saving the Shire $100,000 on this item alone.
Not only did this allow savings benefits to be passed back to the Shire, it also provided much needed work for the Shire staff to the benefit of the local community. Surfacing with TigerTurf’s Evo Pro sand dressed grass system over a 6mm Regupol pre-formed shock pad provided a multipurpose surface enabling the Shire to use the new facility for both Hockey and Tennis.
“Upon signing the contract with TigerTurf, Council experienced not one time delay or issue relating to the project schedule or product” says Neah. “I have no trouble recommending
TigerTurf to any Council or community organisation for a similar surfacing project.”
