The ICC Academy is a cricket academy located in Dubai Sports City, Dubai, that is managed and administered by the International Cricket Council. It was opened in 2009 under Rod Marsh, who was appointed as Director. They are the proud strategic performance partner of the Emirates Cricket Board (UAE Cricket) and the ICC Academy is the home of the UAE National team and National Academy programmes.
The academy runs a multitude of cricket coaching programmes run by internationally qualified specialists who have a wealth of experience which caters to everyone needs from ages of two onwards, be it someone who is just starting to fall in love with the game of Cricket to elite and professional international players.
An elite cricket facility, The ICC Academy works with highly qualified international coaches that use revolutionary technology to improve their members skills at an affordable price. This meant that when it came to convert seven outdoor and two indoor lanes using artificial grass the academy needed a high performing, highly durable product to meet it’s needs. Fitwell Sports LLC we’re brought in to complete the installation and recommended TigerTurf Cricket Deluxe as the perfect product.
They are currently using the nine lanes for training and local tournaments, with the indoor lanes being booked for around 20-30 hours a week and the outdoor lanes booked for 100.
The installation has been very well received by all players and staff at the Academy.
Anish, UAE National Professional Player says; “It’s perfect! I find your Cricket Deluxe surface offers an excellent consistent bounce, swing and spin for bowlers and batter, thereby enhancing the skill and the technique of the UAE National Players. This is why we regularly train on the TigerTurf surface at ICC Academy and we have the flexibility of playing on the surface either indoors or outdoors.
Anoop Sajan, Team Leader at ICC Academy added; “It is one of the best, if not the best surface you get from an artificial grass point of view in the UAE. The standard of quality and expectation here is quite high as players are coming from International teams such as UAE, Pakistan, India, Australia, West Indies, Ireland, etc. In January 2019 we had a televised competitive cricket game at the ICC Academy between the UAE and Nepal.”
