It’s a tumultuous time in the UK and across the world with our lives and routines disrupted, and our normal way of life has been completely turned on its head. However, amongst all the confusion, angst and sad news there have been a number of positive outcomes of us spending more time at home, whether that is becoming more active, spending more time with your family or making those home improvements you just haven’t had chance to get round to doing. Being on a nationwide lockdown has given many people some space and breathing time to do things that during any normal time wouldn’t be happening.
As people are spending more time at home, we want to give you some inspiration on how you can transform any outdoor space you have work for you during lockdown, but importantly for life after lockdown.
Artificial grass
Naturally, our first choice when it comes to transforming your outdoor space is artificial grass. Not only will it brighten up the space by being green all year round, artificial grass needs significantly less maintenance than a real lawn. There is also no mud with an artificial lawn, meaning it can be used all year round and is perfect for families with children or pets. Nowadays, artificial is a lot more advanced with the combination of different yarn types and colours, you can have a natural looking lawn or an all green, vibrant looking surface. Artificial grass can not only be a stylish edition to your space it can also transform your garden into a sporting stadium for you to develop your sporting skills! Choosing a sport grass for your garden can allow extra hours of use for football training, hockey practice, golf or any multitude of sports, you can create the perfect space for your future sports stars to train.
Furniture
Outdoor furniture is a key investment and can last for years. The hub of the garden, good furniture creates a social space where your friends and family can get together and enjoy your outside space. Nowadays there’s a lot to choose from when it comes to outdoor furniture, here we’ve listed a few of our favourites
Plants
Obviously, no garden is complete without plants and flowers. Now is the perfect time to sort out your hanging baskets, flower beds and pots. Many floras need planting way before the summer, but there’s still lots you can do to brighten up your garden, like planting flowers already in bloom or preparing and planting your bulbs and seeds for next year. Another great use of this time is starting a veg patch or herb garden. Usually, they don’t take up too much room and can offer you an abundance of fresh fruit and veg that you can proudly say you’ve grown with your own hands! There’s lots of information online about growing your own food and influencers like @gardentogarnish show how to get started.
